History

Mediation and Community Support began work in the towns of Leamington Spa and Whitnash in 1999.

With the support, guidance and training given by a mediation service based in Coventry, volunteer mediators were able to undertake cases locally. Volunteer management committee members gained some funding and MACS continued in this low-key form until January 2005. During this time, more support from interested parties was gained. The need for paid workers to promote the service, recruit, train and support volunteer mediators, assist the management committee and expand the service was vital to the success of the service. MACS was awarded Big Lottery funding for a project co-ordinator, an administrator and to expand the volunteer team. The two years funding have proved a great success with

  • training people in mediation skills
  • neighbour disputes
  • whole street disputes
  • parent / teenager cases
  • workplace disputes

We have now been awarded a further 5 years funding from the Big Lottery to develop and expand our service
